Work experience

As unemployment continues to be one of the biggest challenges faced by young adults in Inuvik, the IYC has developed Work Experience Program.  This program is aimed at helping youth facing barriers to employment develop the skills and work experience they need to participate in the job market.  The Work Experience Program consists of a five-part life skills workshop series for youth, encompassing resume and cover letter writing, interview skills, job searches, and computer skills.  Following this workshop series, a number of selected youth will then complete a 3-week work placement with one of the local businesses.  Ultimately, these work placements will provide participating youth with valuable work experience, and provide them with an entry point into the workforce.
